An influx of UK fans filled State Street to celebrate UK's 62-58 win over Houston in its NCAA Sweet Sixteen game on Friday night.

Police officers mixed with party-goers as heavily armored Lexington police units moved into the area to keep an eye on the celebration. In preparation for the celebration, police and city officials restricted street parking in the area.

Police officers filed onto State Street before the game ended.

At 12:36 p.m., police shut down State Street and University Avenue at Nicholasville Road. Elizabeth Street was shut down between Waller Avenue and Conn Terrace, while Crescent Avenue was shut down at Waller Avenue. 

Multiple people tweeted that the noise from State Street could be heard from as far away as Red Mile. 

The fire department was transporting a patient from the State Street area to a local hospital for minor injuries at 12:48 a.m., according to the city's media alert system. A second patient was transferred at 12:53, again with minor injuries.

At 12:50 a.m., according to the alert, one individual was arrested on Forest Park for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

At 12:56, the media alert reported that the police arrested a person on State Street for disorderly conduct. (It was originally reported that this person was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, but city officials later made a correction that resisting arrest was not one of the charges.) 

UK alumnus and SportsCenter anchor Michael Eaves weighed in on Twitter about the State Street activity. 

During the night, a Twitter account appearing to belong to the man whose car was flipped on State Street back in September alluded back to that night of State Street celebrations. 

As of about 1:13 a.m., police were reopening Limestone at Avenue of Champions.
