I spent the summer living and interning in Miami, Florida. Sounds awful, right? I was a blogger by day and travel guru by night. I ventured to different areas throughout South Florida and created a list of my favorite spots.

Art Walks - Wynwood

My favorite Saturdays of the month were always the second. Music, art, local vendors, and food trucks amidst streets full of murals and graffiti art. Fried Oreos and handcrafted jewelry all in walking distance - what more could you want?

Aventura MallAventura

The sixth biggest mall in the world. Unfortunately, it is never not crowded, but it’s worth hunting for a parking spot. My personal favorite stores are All Saints, Nordstrom, and Zara. The mall recently reopened their giant food hall, which is unlike any food court I've eaten in before.

Books & Books – Corals Gables

Founded in 1982 this independent book store hosts events with well known authors and houses its own café. It's a classic, must-see spot in the area.

Las Olas Boulevard - Fort Lauderdale

This is the place to be on the weekends. The long street consist of shops, restaurants and nighttime events like concerts. It’s only a short walk from the water where you can partake in boat tours and water sports, or marvel at the beautiful yachts.

Lincoln RoadSouth Beach

If you haven’t caught on, my favorite pastime is shopping, especially in a place like Miami. This long road is an outdoor promenade full of stylish stores and unique dining.

Monty’s & CocoWalk – Coconut Grove

I’m still mourning the delicious fish I ate and the fact I won’t receive anything as fresh here in landlocked Kentucky. Monty’s Raw Bar and Grill is located along the marina and best known for their fresh fish, stellar drinks, and live music. A scenic view and good food make for a perfect weekend lunch spot or date night.

Are you surprised the CocoWalk is more shopping? More than stores and restaurants, the CocoWalk has a unique movie theatre where you can reserve a seat and order drinks from a bar. Plus, this area of the Grove is within walking distance to the marina, Peacock Park, hiking trails and bike paths. There’s basically something for everyone to enjoy.

O Cinema – Miami Beach

Speaking of unique movie theatres... You’ll have to like what’s on the menu at O Cinema since it's a one-screen theatre playing one movie at a time. Movies range from local indie films to blockbuster hits, and there’s usually one showing time per day.

If I had more time, I would've booked a weekend getaway to the Bahamas or drove to Key West for a night. Looks like I've already started my bucket list for my next South Florida adventure!
